Callaway Gardens

PART 1

Early April this year proved to be the ideal time for our second visit to Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia. We saw it first in 2009 and were blown away by the glory and grandeur of twenty-thousand Azalea plants in bloom. Our photos can only begin to capture the magnificence of this amazing attraction.

We decided to combine our pictures with appropriate quotes, some by well-known men and women, whose names you will no doubt recognize. Matching quotations and photos was a labor of love. We hope taking the time to read and look will be worthwhile for you. Because of the large quantity of pictures, we have divided the album into four parts.

Go at your own pace, but each part should be about the same length as the other three parts. As you probably could guess, we think everyone should make the pilgrimage to Pine Mountain at least once in a lifetime. We use the word pilgrimage very much on purpose because we both felt we had made a journey to a "sacred" place. We'd love to tell you more if you care to call or send an e-mail.

One of the most delightful things about a garden is the anticipation it provides~W.E. Johns

May flowers always line your path and sunshine light your day.
May songbirds serenade you every step along the way.
May a rainbow run beside you in a sky that's always blue.
And may happiness fill your heart each day your whole life through.
~Irish Blessing

For there is a sound reasoning upon all flowers. For flowers are peculiarly the poetry of Christ-

Kind hearts are the gardens. Kind thoughts are the roots.  Kind words are the flowers.  Kind deeds are the fruits.  Take care of your garden and keep out the weeds. Fill it with sunshine - kind words and kind deeds.

I think that if ever a mortal heard the voice of God it would be in a garden at the cool of the day~ Frankfort Moore, A Garden of Peace

I will be the gladdest thing

Under the sun!
I will touch a hundred flowers
And not pick one.

I am following Nature without being able to grasp her, I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers-Claude Monet

Morning is the best of all times in the garden. The sun is not yet hot. Sweet vapors rise from the earth. Night dew clings to the soil and makes plants glisten. Birds call to one another. Bees are already at work-William Longgood
