WESTERN JOURNEY--SEPTEMBER, 2011--DAYS 8 to 10

Portland, Oregon
September 14th through 16th, 2011
Days 8 to10

Welcome to historic St. Johns--established in 1847

This is the area in North Portland where Maia and her doggy pal, Biscuit, have found a new apartment. It is so great to be able to visit them here and to enjoy a new area.

Biscuit, Maia's friendly and vivacious dog, doesn't really like to have her picture taken. That is why she has a dubious look on her face! Judy got to go with Maia and Biscuit for a long walk in the lovely forest of tall old growth evergreen trees just beside the apartment complex where they live. What a great place to enjoy the out-of-doors!

Judy and Maia enjoyed an Indian buffet lunch at Namaste, which, of course, Dick enjoyed as well but was the photographer for this photo.

One of the most serene and peaceful parks in Portland is The Grotto where we wandered the paths through the forest and flower gardens.

Salty's, one of Portland's landmarks, is a restaurant on the Columbia River with a lovely view, especially at sunset. Maia and Judy decided to skip dinner while Dick had only clam chowder, and to experience some of Salty's unique desserts. Maia chose key lime pie, and Dick and Judy shared a sampler dessert of many kinds of cream pies served in shot glasses.
