to home in Cincinnati
September 21, 2011
Today was a planned travel day beginning with our flight at 1:10 p.m. from Portland. The flight was scenic as we flew over mountains a great part of the way. Judy always tries to have a window seat because she enjoys taking photographs whenever she flies.
After a day of travel with a layover in Salt Lake City, we arrived home in Cincinnati at 12:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, September 22nd--the last day of summer! We decided, after a few hours' sleep, when Judy went outside and looked around the yard, that, indeed, we had been away a long time. One of the very elusive groundhogs that lives under our deck and is almost never seen, had decided nobody lives here any more and thought he would make himself at home relaxing on our deck!
In the lawn, bunches of mushrooms were now growing!
After the chipmunks had eaten all of Judy's "hens and chicks" plants from a large pot earlier in the summer, she bought a new pot and put it on the picnic table to keep the plants safe. Here's what she saw when we returned...The chipmunks had found them and had begun biting them off!
One of the deer which frequents our yard feels so comfortable now that he comes close to the house to drink from the birdbath!
We are now thankful for a safe and memorable journey to the West. We have many more memories and photos than we have included on our blog, but we hope those that are here will be enjoyed by everyone who sees them.
